Meet your teacher . . . . Mr. Tortora
Welcome to my website. My name is Mr. Tortora and I will be your fifth grade teacher for the school year. This is my 13th year teaching in the South Country School District. While in college I student taught at Brookhaven Elementary School, Kreamer Street Elementary School and Frank P. Long Intermediate School. After college I became a substitute teacher for the district and then taught second grade, third grade, and then second grade again as leave replacements. I am very excited to teach 5th grade again and hope that we can have a lot of fun this year. One of my goals as a teacher is to make school a place that you want to come to because it is fun.
I live in Patchogue and went to Connetquot Schools when I was growing up. During my free time I enjoy taking road trips with friends. I also enjoy running and participate in many races all over Long Island. In the winter I love to ski. In August you can find me up in Maine volunteering at a camp for kids and their families that suffer from illnesses. This summer I went to California and drove up the coast along the Pacific Coast Highway.
I'm sure I will learn all about you this school year and you will learn more about me too as the year goes on! Welcome to Fifth Grade!
